Our power point installation
services

At Limelight Electrix, doing things properly and safely is our priority, which is why we always conduct thorough safety assessments before installation to ensure your home’s wiring can support additional power points without risk.

  • New power point installations

Our team can install new power points in optimal locations throughout your home, ensuring accessibility and convenience for all your electrical devices.

  • Upgrade existing power points

We replace outdated or damaged power points with modern, safe options, including USB outlets for added functionality.

  • Outdoor power points

Installation of power points that are weatherproof for outdoor areas, perfect for gardens, patios, and workshops.

What’s involved in installing an extra
power point?

A power point installation service that’s prioritises safe and compliance from the very start.

  • Inspect the existing electrical setup

Before any work begins, we assess the nearby wiring, the existing circuit and your switchboard to confirm the new power point can be added safely.

  • Plan the cable route

We determine the neatest and most efficient way to run the new electrical cable. Depending on the property, this may involve accessing the roof space, wall cavity, subfloor or an existing power point nearby.

  • Prepare the new power point location

Your electrician will then carefully mark and prepare the installation area, taking care to avoid existing pipes, cables and structural elements within the wall.

  • Install the new power point

Once everything is planned, we install the new outlet with careful attention to positioning and presentation. Whether it’s a standard double outlet, USB power point or another configuration, we want it to look like it belongs there.

  • Connect, test and verify

Once installed, the electrical work is tested to confirm it is safe and operating correctly. Required electrical safety and compliance requirements are also addressed as part of the job.

  • Clean up and leave it looking right

The job isn’t finished when the power comes on. We tidy the work area, check the final presentation and make sure you’re happy with the result before we leave.

  • Put an end to the power
    point shuffle

From minor upgrades to more complex fault finding, Limelight Electrix delivers reliable electrical work with careful attention to safety, presentation and long-term performance.

  • Power where you actually need it

Homes change, technology changes and the way you live changes. Suddenly, the power points you have aren’t where you need them. We can install additional outlets in smarter, more convenient locations.

  • Stop fighting over the socket

Chargers, lamps, TVs, appliances, computers and everything in between. Add the extra power points your household needs and leave the double adaptors behind.

  • Your extension lead shouldn’t be permanent

Extension leads are handy for temporary use. If one has become part of the furniture, it might be time to have a power point installed where you actually need it.

  • More power for less messing around

Sometimes a small electrical upgrade can make a surprisingly big difference. Extra power points make rooms easier to use, reduce clutter and give everything its proper place.

    • This company ticks all the boxes. They are professional, knowledgeable, timely, good communicators, friendly, tidy, etc. No, they are not the least expensive option you’ll find out there, but you will most definitely get your money’s worth. They do the job right the first time, use top-notch products and do it all with a smile.  Brad and his team are worth it!

    • Brad is brilliant with his prompt communication and punctuality.
Brad and Levi’s workmanship is thorough and safety is paramount for them. I was extremely impressed that Brad did a safety check as the first thing at the quoting stage.

Brad and Levi are honest and open if you have any follow up queries.
I have already passed on Limelight Electrix details to a family member and wouldn’t hesitate to give their details to anyone who was after a superior Electrician. More than highly recommended!!

    • Would highly recommend Brad and his team for any electrical work.  We have just used Limelight again to complete a variety of work at our recently purchased house, this will be about the fifth time we have used them and every time we cannot fault Brads work.

Whilst you may find cheaper quotes, you won’t find better quality – something we weren’t willing to comprise when dealing with electricity, not to mention presentation of our house.  We had one minor hiccup with a phone line, they were straight back out to resolve it at no cost.  They always call on the way to the job and stick to the agreed times.

      Frequently asked questions

Can I add extra power points anywhere in my home?

In many cases, yes, but it depends on the existing wiring, construction of the wall and access to an appropriate electrical circuit.

We’ll look at where you want the new outlet, what you plan to use it for and the best way to get power there before recommending a location.

How much does it cost to install an extra power point?

The cost can vary depending on the type of power point, its location, accessibility and the electrical work required to supply it.

A straightforward installation may be relatively simple, while getting power to a difficult location can involve considerably more work.

Limelight Electrix provides clear, fixed quotes so you know what the job will cost before work begins.

Where should I put extra power points?

Think about how you actually use the room rather than simply where an outlet will fit.

Beside beds, behind televisions, near desks, around kitchen benches and close to regularly used appliances are common locations.

We can also help you think through placement so the finished result is practical without unnecessarily interrupting the look of the room.

Can I turn a single power point into a double?

Often, yes. If you have older single outlets throughout your home, replacing them with double outlets can be a simple way to make your electrical setup more practical.

We’ll first check the existing installation to make sure the proposed change is suitable.

Can you install power points with USB-C charging?

Power points with integrated charging can be particularly useful beside beds, in kitchens and home offices, reducing the number of separate charging adapters you need.

It is also extremely useful for overseas visitors who can charge their devices using a USB-C cable rather than relying on socket adaptors.

There are different configurations available depending on what you want to charge.

Can you install a power point behind a wall-mounted TV?

Absolutely, and it can make a huge difference to the finished appearance.

Positioning power behind the television helps eliminate visible cords running down the wall and gives your wall-mounted TV a much cleaner, more integrated look.

Can you install power points inside cupboards or cabinetry?

We can – however there can be some challenges getting wiring to the desired power point location with pre-existing cabinetry.

Once cabinetry is installed, there may be no straightforward path from the existing electrical circuit to the new outlet. Solid backs, drawers, shelves and wall construction can all restrict access.

We need to look at each job to see what surrounds the job, and what solutions we can come up with to give you the result that you’re after.

Can I have a power point installed outside?

They can, however the unit that we install must be be weatherproof and have a minimum IP rating of IP54 (protected against dust and water splashes), complying with AS/NZS 3112 and AS/NZS 3000.

We can determine the appropriate outlet and position for areas such as patios, alfresco spaces, sheds and other outdoor areas.

Can you add power points to my kitchen?

Of course. Kitchens are one of the areas where additional outlets can make the biggest everyday difference.

Kettles, coffee machines, air fryers, toasters and other appliances can quickly use every available socket.

We can look at your kitchen layout and find practical locations for additional power.

Do I need a dedicated power point for large appliances?

Some appliances may require their own appropriately designed circuit rather than simply being connected to a convenient existing outlet. If you’re installing equipment with higher electrical demands, let us know what you’re planning to connect and we can determine what’s required.
